Frequently Asked Questions
What are some of the benefits of FRP products vs. wood and LVL scaffold plank?
Benefits of FRP (fiberglass reinforced plastic) products include corrosion resistance, light weight, high strength-to-weight ratio, non-conductive, fire retardant, impact resistant, water resistance, superior ergonomics, long product life and low maintenance.

What is the life cycle of FRP products?
Pultruded structural products have been used for many years in permanent installations on off-shore rigs, industrial refineries and the petro-chemical industry as well as commercial applications.

Does NexGenPlank come with a Warranty?
NexGenPlank is warranted by our manufacturer for five (5) years from date of purchase for shape and corrosion. Please refer to applicable Chemical Resistance Chart. Download chart here.

When do you need to seal FRP products?
Any area that has been cut, scraped, scuffed or scratched should be sealed as necessary, if exposed to corrosive chemicals to preventfrom reaching exposed glass fibers which maintains the corrosion resistance and thus extending the life of the product. Bonding Kits available.

Can FRP products be used in cold weather?
Glass fiber reinforced pultrusions exhibit excellent mechanical properties at very low temperatures, even -70° F. Tensile strength and impact strengths are greater at -70° F than at +80° F. (Pultrusion Industry Council, © 2007)

What do you look for when inspecting NexGenPlank?
NexGenPlank will return to its original shape after use unless the plank has been overloaded to the point of failure. Planks are load rated at 75 psf for spans 7’ or less and 50 psf for spans 10’ or less. There is no water absorption, rot or pest issue to worry about. If the plank has been overloaded (bowed), dropped, cut or crushed (like a forklift), it shall be cut to the next usable size or taken out of service. Refer to Chemical Resistance Chart for acceptable exposures. Power wash to clean plank as necessary.

How do you cut down NexGenPlank?
Use a standard diamond tip blade or Freud Diablo 60T Hi-Density Carbide blade to cut NexGenPlank. Proper safety equipment includes safety glasses, leather gloves, ear plugs, and dust masks when cutting NexGenPlank.
